Two armorials from 1656 and 1657 The Revised German Armorial, in which the names of the potentates, princes, armies, noble estates and towns of the Holy Roman Empire, along with their coats of arms, crests, regalia, etc., [...], available from Paulus Fürsten, art dealer in Nuremberg, 1657; four parts in two volumes, format: small 8° landscape; Part I comprising 39 leaves and 230 copperplate coat-of-arms plates (No. 77 erroneously bound twice instead of No. 79), Part II comprising 29 leaves and 164 plates, Part III comprising 32 leaves and 200 plates, Part IV comprising 29 leaves and 200 plates, all plates hand-coloured, in contemporary parchment bindings, traces of old colour edging; hand-painted coats of arms mounted on the reverse of the covers; cover hinges cracked; leaves occasionally with marginal glazing, some of which has been repaired in the past, as well as tears and missing sections; leaves throughout with some foxing and finger stains; signs of age and wear from use.
