1459 - Set of large handkerchiefs from a noble estate

Set of large handkerchiefs from a noble estate circa 1900, five pieces, each in white linen damask with woven-in designs and an embroidered monogram ‘W’ with a baron’s crown and the number 1, including one handkerchief with a wide, blue woven border in an ‘onion pattern’ modelled on Meissen designs, scattered small flowers in the centre and a large embroidered decorative monogram, as well as four identical handkerchiefs with a surrounding chequered border, an ornamental border and a dense fill of rose branches in the centre panel; the small aristocratic monogram on each is embroidered in red; one is slightly stained, otherwise in good condition for its age; dimensions: 75 x 75 cm each, or 70 x 70 cm in one case.
