A photo album by Hermann Steinberg, musician in the 3rd Naval Battalion, Tsingtao, 1912–1915 Approximately 190 pasted-in photos in various formats, with four loose photos included; some were labeled at a later date. Members of the 3rd Naval Battalion in uniform at parades and other events, as well as during their free time; the steamship Patricia; artillery; group photos; “Prinzenbad”; foreign colonial troops; local architecture and people; executions, etc. In a large, older, brown album (scuffed, with tears). Some pictures are missing or damaged, as are some album pages. Interleaves made of tracing paper are incomplete. Signs of wear and age. Album dimensions approx. 27 x 39 x 3 cm. A first-rate rarity. Provenance: Directly from the family collection. Condition: II - III
