Torpedo tube of a torpedo boat, circa 1910 An improved successor model to the M 1889 deck-launch apparatus. The three-piece, bolted torpedo tube is made of high-quality, seawater-resistant bronze with external controls and a closure flap, bearing mostly matching "1827" markings, as well as the markings “1827 Left G 6” and “1827 Right G 7.” The two supports are mounted on roller bearings and allow for aiming with the tube itself, an improvement over the predecessor models, which required aiming with the entire ship. These tubes were presumably also used by the Austrian Imperial and Royal Navy and later by the Reichsmarine and the Kriegsmarine. Length approx. 7.50 m, weight approx. 1.8 metric tons. Completeness not verified. The tube was capable of firing G/6 (6 m long, 160 kg warhead, range up to 5 km) and G/7 (7 m long, 195 kg warhead, range up to 9.3 km), which were commissioned in 1911 and 1913, respectively, could be fired from the tube. Due to the historically high price of scrap bronze, very few of these tubes are likely to have survived. Extremely rare! Viewing and pickup available at our location in Munich. Condition: II -
