Otto Fürst von Bismarck (1815–1898) – Hair samples from 1892–1897 with contemporary certification A total of 17 round cardboard apothecary jars (diameter 5.3 cm) labeled at the time with dates ranging from 1892 to 1897, each filled with white hairs from Bismarck. Also included are 11 postcards and 13 telegrams from valet Pinnow to barber Röhrig, specifying the date and time of the requested appointment to style Bismarck’s hair in Friedrichsruh. Additionally, there are five notarized certificates authenticating the hair samples, a newspaper article on the subject, and other documents. Housed in an old leather case (approx. 26 x 24 x 9 cm). Some items are slightly damaged; shows signs of wear and age. Bismarck’s valet, Pinnow, requested the services of barber Röhrig for the prince’s haircut via telegram (dispatch) or postcard. Röhrig collected small hair samples in apothecary jars and labeled them with the date of the haircut. He even noted the method by which he was commissioned—whether by telegram or postcard. The authenticity of his hair samples was notarized. A unique, authentic lot of museum quality. Condition: II
