A helmet, a cuirass, and a reservist's portrait for enlisted men of the Prussian Regiment of the Gardes du Corps, 19th century M 1867 helmet with a tombac bell and a beaded crown, a screwed-on emblem (with added leather square nuts) in the shape of the superimposed Guard star with a black eagle made of blackened iron, a beaded front visor, convex, leather-backed scale chains attached with screws (rosettes missing), Prussian cockade made of lacquered sheet iron, screw-mounted nickel silver parade eagle (square nut added) with a screw-mounted enlisted man’s crown, black leather flap lining (worn), the undersides of the visor repainted green/black. Also included is the early version of the 19th-century parade cuirass made of steel, repainted black, without lining. The front and back sections feature red cord edging (replaced). The back section features old leather-backed scale chains and bandelier hooks, along with an old riveted leather belly strap. Also included, from the same source, is a glass-framed GdC reservist portrait depicting Theodor Vering of the Leib-Eskadron (frame dimensions 59 x 69 cm). Partially incomplete, slightly damaged, with signs of wear and age. The Russian Tsar Alexander I had presented the black cuirasses to the regiment in 1814 as a token of friendship and loyalty to the alliance. A rare, highly prestigious ensemble from a Prussian guard unit. Condition: II
