1135 - Silk Embroidery from the German ColoniesNaval Reservist embroidery, inscribed ‘In memory of my travels to China 1910 - Japan 1912”, named ‘Matrose Meister’, blue, tall rectangular silk cloth with magnificent coloured silk and gold thread embroidery; in the centre, a depiction of the Imperial Eagle above a large anchor, flanked by the eight flags of the leading naval powers of the time, below which is an oval medallion depicting a ship’s profile, inscribed “S.M.S. Gneisenau”, historically mounted on cardboard, unframed, fabric partially faded and slightly frayed due to age, dimensions 57 x 49.5 cm.
