A presentation M 52 saber of the Prussian Death's Head Hussars Silver M 52 hilt with a guard star and skull on the crossguard, stamped “6.3.22”; the pommel cap is engraved with a family coat of arms. Handle covered in fish-scale leather, wrapped three times with twisted gold wire. Back blade made of Damascus steel (“Damaststahl Eisenhauer”) with gold inlays; engraved on the front with “Robert von Carstanjen,” on the back with “Posen 1889”; black-lacquered scabbard with two brass bands and carrying rings, as well as a section of the leather strap from the portepee. Uncleaned condition, signs of age and wear with a light patina/soot deposits. This lot is located in the U.S. Condition: II
