A pair of shoulder boards for a colonel of the 2nd Life Hussar Regiment “Queen Victoria of Prussia,” No. 2 Shoulder boards made of silver filigree with black trim on a black background; each adorned with two gold stars, gold crowns, and the monogram “V” (for the 2nd Hussar Regiment). Uncleaned condition with signs of age and wear, as well as a light patina and traces of soot. The only likely wearers are the regimental commanders following the regiment’s renaming from “Empress” to “Empress Victoria of Prussia” in 1901, namely Colonels Konrad von der Schulenburg (1897–1902), Friedrich Wilhelm von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth (1902–1908), or Adolf Krahmer (1908–1912). According to the consignor, these are even said to be the Empress’s personal epaulets; however, no photographic evidence of this—unlike in the case of her daughter Viktoria Luise—could be found. This lot is located in the U.S. Condition: II
