Emperor Wilhelm II – a "Matelot," likely from his time at Huis Doorn A beautifully woven straw hat with a straight brim, flat crown, and a black silk-ribbon band with a bow on the side. A fine, green leather sweatband; the crown is lined with light cream-colored silk, featuring the gold-embossed initial “W” beneath an imperial crown. Slightly soiled due to age; the crown section above the forehead shows minimal damage; otherwise in very fine condition and likely crafted to the highest quality by the Ottmar Reich hat factory in the Allgäu region. The Emperor particularly enjoyed wearing such summer hats—commonly known as “circular saws”—while in exile at Haus Doorn. Condition: II
