3285 - A pair of percussion pistols in a case, Geerinckx in Paris, circa 1850

A pair of percussion pistols in a case, Geerinckx in Paris, circa 1850 Octagonal barrels with eight-groove rifling, 11 mm caliber. Signed on the upper surfaces with “Fni par GEERINCKX SUC[cesse]ur de GAUVAIN A PARIS.” Floral engravings above the chambers and on the tail screw plates, marked with “1” and “2” respectively, inlaid in gold. Percussion locks with weak springs. Lock plates and hammers finely engraved with floral motifs (both hammers show signs of repair). Finely cut walnut half-stocks with engraved iron fittings and nickel silver-lined barrel wedges. Length: 42.5 cm each. Wooden case with brass-inlaid framing and a missing brass plate on the lid, complete with matching key. The interior is lined with green suede and contains a loading hammer, a pouring spoon, a screwdriver, a piston key, a powder flask, two wooden and one brass plaster jar, a brass vial, a brass primer dispenser, a bullet plier, a spring clamp, one wooden and one brass ramrod and cleaning rod, and attachments. The interior fittings of the case were likely replaced at a later date, and the accessories are likely not all original—some are reproductions and have been repainted. There is a chip on the right rear corner of the case. Dimensions of the case: 31 x 44 x 8.5 cm. Condition: II–III
