A German gilded hunting hanger, mid 18th century Slender single-edged blade with Damascus structure, double-edged point and fullers on both sides. Blade somewhat pitted. Finely etched and gilt decoration at the base and in the broad fuller. Brass knuckle-bow hilt and guard plate in rich relief, each with well-preserved fire gilding. Grip also of brass in relief with gilding. Length 65.5 cm. Condition: II -
