A deluxe French rapier with a chiseled hilt in the style of 1600, circa 1880 Original blade from around 1600 with a rhombic cross-section. In the upper third, a narrow groove on both sides bearing the stamped inscription "IN TOLEDO." Iron clasped scabbard with a finely engraved floral decoration covering the entire surface, interspersed with beaded bands. The third-section guard features a depiction of a mounted duel. Iron octagonal tang, oval eight-sided pommel with a set-off riveted pommel cap. Length 122.5 cm. Condition: II +
