A French smallsword mounted in gilt silver, ca. 1800 Slender triangular cutting edge. At the hilt, a finely etched decorative band bearing the maker’s monogram “SHF.” Gilt solid silver scabbard. Symmetrical guard, the upper surface richly set with diamond-cut decorative rivets, interspersed with engraved and chased decoration. The hilt, tang, and pommel are also adorned with fine diamond-cut decorative rivets. French silver hallmarks. Length 101.5 cm. Condition: II +
