A silver-mounted English or French smallsword, ca. 1780/90 Slender, deeply grooved triangular cutting edge. Showing some pitting; the tip is damaged. Fine decorative etching at the hilt with traces of gilding and the maker’s monogram “A.K.” Silver guard with traces of gilding. Oval guard with fine openwork and cut diamond decoration. The remaining parts of the hilt feature elaborate diamond-shaped boss decoration soldered onto a chased background. Length 98 cm. Condition: II -
