A German military rapier, circa 1600 Slender double-edged thrusting blade with a flattened central ridge. In the upper third, narrow grooves on both sides with an engraved border and a stamped monogram “AM(?)”. A false edge with grooves on both sides. Iron tang with a wide, straight crossguard; a barely visible repair mark at the junction with the center bar. Spiral-grooved tang with iron winding and Turkish knots. Slightly conical, octagonal pommel with a stepped riveted pommel cap. Length 117.5 cm. Condition: II
