Late Bronze Age Allendorf-type armring with incised decoration on the outside, 13th century B.C. Late Bronze Age armring of Bronze Age Stage D, Allendorf type, with an open end; the ends of the ring are thickened on the outside to form a characteristic ridge. The inner side is slightly curved, while the outer side is roof-shaped but with a gentle curve. The lateral edges also feature a gentle curve. The largest diameter, 1.4 cm, is at the center of the visible side, tapering to 6 mm toward the ends. The outer surface is entirely covered with incised decoration. Between clusters of transverse, parallel lines are metopes featuring staggered, crescent-shaped incised lines that curve inward from the edges. In the two long metopes flanking the short central metope are elongated, almond-shaped incisions, bordered on the outside by rows of dots. Dark green patina with slight surface corrosion in places. Otherwise intact. A fine example of a typical Late Bronze Age ring (Wölfersheim phase in the Rhine-Main region or Riegsee group in southern Germany). Maximum diameter 6.6 cm. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Private collection in northern Germany, acquired from the Süddeutscher Kunsthandel in the 1990s. Condition: II +
