Decorated bronze socketed axe, 10th–9th century B.C. Bronze socketed axe with an oval cross-section and a blade that widens only slightly; the cutting edge is slightly curved. A shallowly profiled ridge at the mouth. In front of this is a raised relief decoration with thin ribs on both visible sides: three parallel lines running all the way around, preceded by a curved angle formed by three parallel lines. On the narrow sides, there is a flat, beaded raised band; on one side, there is an additional attached eyelet. Dark green patina, with minimal corrosion marks in places, otherwise completely intact. Length 11.3 cm. An exceptionally well-preserved and particularly beautiful example of an Early Bronze Age socketed axe. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Private collection in southern Germany. From the estate of the grandfather, who had assembled a specialized collection from the 1960s through the 1970s, focusing on prehistoric and early historic weapons. Condition: I–II
