Roman jug, bronze with an iron handle, 2nd–3rd centuries A.D. 7 cm wide, flat base. Above it, a slightly domed, conical body that widens to 12.8 cm at an angular break at the shoulder. The shoulder is shaped like a flat truncated cone. In the center, following a distinct break, the neck tapers conically upward and transitions into a fan-shaped, curved rim. An iron handle is attached to the rear, rounded end of the rim, with a ribbon-shaped attachment at the top and a leaf-shaped attachment at the bottom. The ribbon-shaped handle is horizontal at the top and curves backward in an arc, which then tapers back toward the attachment directly below the break at the shoulder. The jug is slightly dented but complete. The loose iron handle, broken at the attachment, has been expertly glued back in place. Height 19 cm. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Private French collection. Acquired from Hermann Historica, Munich, April 11, 2008, Auction 54, Lot 108. Axel Guttmann Collection (1944–2001). Condition: II -
