Bronze head of Venus, Roman, 1st–2nd centuries A.D. An exceptionally beautiful and finely crafted head of a Venus statuette, characterized by classical elegance, which stands out from the often somewhat provincial and naive appearance of Roman-era small sculptures. The eyes—including the pupils and eyelids—the nose, lips, and cheeks are well-proportioned and rendered realistically, as are the details of the hairstyle. The face sits on the neck with a slight turn to the right. Very beautiful, slightly mottled, satin-matte green patina. Preserved height: 3.5 cm. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Private French collection. Acquired from Hermann Historica, Munich, April 22, 2009, Auction 57, Lot 97. Condition: I -
