Incense burner made of gray-brown impasto, Villanova culture, second half of the 8th century B.C. Early Etruscan incense burner with a tall, conical foot featuring six openwork sections; its lower edge is stepped inward and then flares outward. The six “columns” of the foot, which tapers upward, transition with a gentle, yet distinct bend into the bowl, which is barely noticeably curved on the outside but has a wide rim on the inside that is clearly set apart by a bend and pierced with rectangular holes. This exceptionally rare piece has been expertly reassembled from fragments and is largely complete. Small missing sections have been skillfully and almost imperceptibly filled in and retouched. Diameter 28 cm. Height 13.3 cm. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Acquired from the German art market in the summer of 2026. Previously in a Dutch private collection; acquired for the collection in 1982 from the Vollmoeller Gallery in Zurich. Condition: II
