Etruscan votive head of a boy, 3rd–2nd centuries B.C. A fully sculpted head of a boy made of light, reddish-brown clay with finely rendered, lifelike facial features. The eyes, with eyelids, lips, and cheeks are depicted with precision and well-proportioned detail. The medium-length hair is combed forward across the forehead, with a central tuft pulled forward over the forehead. Below the base of the neck, the original rim of the sculpture—where it originally ended—is partially preserved. Minor chips on the hair at the forehead and nape, the chin, the lower lip, and the lower edge of the neck; however, these do not detract from the overall impression. An artistically very sophisticated votive head. Height 16 cm. CULTURAL HERITAGE! Provenance: Private collection in Upper Austria (estate), acquired by the father in the 1980s on the Austrian and southern German art market. Condition: II +
