First collective edition, decorated with a frontispiece and 45 fine steel-engraved portraits. This publication, in the taste of the Romantic keepsakes, brings together 45 steel-engraved portraits of female characters from Shakespeare's works, after Meadows, Hayter, etc. The literary notes were written by 42 authors, including Philarète Chasles, Louise Colet, Casimir Delavigne, George Sand, etc. Some foxing, one plate browned. A very good copy in a romantic binding by Boutigny (Carteret, III, pp. 228-229; Vicaire, III, 852).
