REBOUX (Paul), 1877–1963. Signed autograph manuscript titled “On Adultery Among Swallows,” 7 pp., in-4 format, with erasures and corrections, in a folder covered in black morocco leather with the title in gold lettering. An amusing chronicle devoted to the amorous habits of swallows, in which Paul Reboux humorously draws a parallel between the animal world and the conventions and quirks of human married life. This subject is directly in the vein of his work *Les Animaux et l’amour* (Animals and Love), published by Flammarion in 1939, a delightful study—part naturalist, part satirical—of the sexual behaviors of animals. Included is a handwritten letter from the author, undated, 1 p., in-8: “I received the confessions of a woman of easy virtue who had fallen sincerely in love. She was then suffering the consequences of her dissolute life because, even in true love, she could not help but, at certain times, still act as a professional."" Includes a photographic portrait of the author mounted on heavy black paper.
