And yet, having enjoyed a new friendship with a woman in these parts, I found myself constantly comparing her to you. [...] I write much more than I used to, and I tear up letters more often, too. [...] I have absolutely no desire to return to Paris; but I must. A kind of wisdom draws me inward. […]"
