The author traces the history from the dawn of civilization to the reign of Cyrus. At the end of Volume 3 are excerpts from Deshauterayes’s Chinese historians. It is illustrated with 3 tables and 9 fold-out plates, all depicting ancient Egyptian monuments, drawn and engraved by Pierre Patte. (Brunet, II, 747.)
