A large Russian extended feast icon with the four Evangelists, 19th century Wooden panel with two reverse sponki (lost). Flat kovcheg, tempera on chalk ground, gilded background. The center depicts the descent into Hades and the resurrection of Christ surrounded by twelve panels with the Passion of Christ. The outer circle shows 16 feast days of the Orthodox church year. The four evangelists appear in the corners. Outer margin with losses, retouches. Dimensions 44 x 36 cm. Condition: II -
