Book-shaped poison cabinet with skull miniature Wood, mirror glass, metal, paper, and fabric; light-colored blind-embossed cover. Carved skull made of bone. Book-shaped poison cabinet with six labeled drawers. Mirrored niche in the center featuring a clothed skull miniature. Inside of the lid features a colored anatomical print, “Anatomie, Le Squelette vû de coté,” “Pl. 2,” with a red seal below it. The combination of the skull, anatomical illustration, and poisonous plants reflects memento mori and vanitas symbolism. The inscriptions were likely added at the same time as the interior fittings. The binding and interior show signs of wear, stains, and minor losses; the mirror is stained and scratched, and the fabric is partially frayed. Dimensions: 30 × 23 × 9 cm. Condition: II–III
