A finely carved boxwood goblet, attributed to Johann Rint (1814 Kuks – 1900 Linz), late 19th century Boxwood. A highly detailed, fully three-dimensional carved goblet. Round base with a band of leaf motifs running around it. Numerous water lilies adorn the top of the base. Resting upon them are three tree trunks, framed by three dolphins stylized in the classical manner. The cup is entwined by the dense branches of the three tree trunks. The cup is adorned with two highly detailed, classical-style scenes: a female figure in a chariot drawn by panthers, surrounded by cupids (The Triumph of Ariadne?). On the other side: a sleeping youth with a horn and a dog in front of a mountain, atop which stands a female figure with a musical entourage. The rim is appropriately curved. In good condition.
