“La profusion de l’hiver,” attributed to Maison Christian Dior, after Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1526–1593), 20th century Polychrome glazed ceramic, subsequently filled with concrete; a metal plate with a central opening embedded in the filling on the underside. A fully sculpted male bust, whose head and torso are formed from cabbages, cauliflowers, onions, garlic, corn cobs, artichokes, fruits, and leaves. A free three-dimensional interpretation of Arcimboldo’s composite heads as an allegory of winter. Glaze with an even crackle pattern. Several small glaze chips on a green leaf-shaped area in the upper section. Isolated scratch and scuff marks on the raised leaf and vegetable forms, as well as small, dark spots where the piece rested. Dimensions approx. 47 × 42 × 30 cm.
