Bronze sculpture of an antiquized warrior, attributed to Hans Arnold (1864 Berlin – 1911 Munich), late 19th to early 20th century Bronze, with a dark brown patina, mounted on a rectangular marble pedestal. Signed “H. Arnold” on the plinth. Standing figure of an idealized warrior in an antiquated style, wearing a helmet with a plume and holding a lance; in a contraposto-like pose with the body axis slightly turned outward. A classical-style conception of the figure, featuring idealized anatomy and a decoratively rendered muscular armor (lorica musculata) with relief ornamentation and pteryges-like hip trim; a historicist interpretation of ancient models within the academic tradition. Good condition for its age. Patina is mostly even, with isolated lighter areas of wear on exposed parts. Isolated greenish oxidation spots, visible primarily in recesses and in the lower section. Surface shows slight soiling and minimal signs of wear. Marble base with edge wear typical of its age, fine scratch marks, and minor signs of use; no major chips visible. Overall dimensions approx. 48 x 11.7 x 11.7 cm; bronze dimensions approx. 37.5 x 14.5 x 9.8 cm. Condition: II +
