“Fox Hunt,” Angelo Jank (Munich 1868–1940 Munich) Oil on canvas. Signed lower left “A. Jank.” Three riders leaping over an obstacle in an open landscape; in the foreground, a rider in a dark coat on a brown horse and a rider in a red hunting coat on a gray horse; to the left, another rider. The paint layer shows isolated signs of abrasion and scratches. Frame with numerous cracks in the relief ornamentation and along the edges, scuffs, and isolated areas of missing varnish; an open crack in the upper left corner. Painting dimensions 55.5 × 75 cm, frame dimensions 81.5 × 101.5 cm. Jank was a professor of painting at the Munich Academy from 1907 to 1937; depictions of horsemen, horses, and hunting scenes form a recurring theme in his oeuvre. Condition: II
