“Southern Landscape,” signed “H. v. Preuschen,” 20th century Oil on canvas, likely mounted on wood. Signed “H. v. Preuschen” in the lower right corner. Rocky riverside landscape with tall cypresses, prickly pears, and light-colored buildings; calm water in the foreground, a mountain range on the right horizon. The paint layer features a textured application, with heavily impastoed areas in places and cracking in the impastoed sections. Under UV light, extensive, sometimes large-scale non-fluorescent overpainting and retouching, particularly in the cypress trees and the rocky shoreline, as well as in parts of the sky and the water. Frame shows signs of rubbing and isolated damage to the gilding, particularly on the gold-gilded, relief-like inner molding. Painting dimensions 76 × 105 cm, frame dimensions 85.8 × 110.5 cm.
