“The Mountain Wanderer,” after Carl Spitzweg, attributed to Willy Moralt (Munich 1884–1947 Lenggries) Oil on painting board, framed under glass. On the front, lower left, a barely legible inscription, likely “Willy Moralt” and “Spitzweg”; on the back, a pencil inscription reading “Willy Moralt – Copy after Spitzweg.” Mountain landscape with steep cliffs, a rocky stream, and a stone water basin in the lower right corner of the painting; in the middle ground, a hiker with a backpack and a walking stick, raising his right arm toward a distant figure. The painting board shows irregular discoloration, scuffs, and small losses at the edges on the reverse. The paint layer has isolated dot-like build-ups as well as scuffs with paint loss along the left edge of the image. The frame has scuffs and missing areas in the gesso and relief decoration. Image dimensions 55.7 × 33.7 cm, frame dimensions 80 × 57.5 cm. Moralt studied under Karl Raupp at the Munich Academy and, beginning in 1914, increasingly drew inspiration from the work of his great-uncle Carl Spitzweg. Condition: II–III
