Images: 8.6 x 15.2 cm to 16.8 x 22.8 cm; album: 27.7 x 38.7 cm In 1877, Andoche Febvre, a member of the Société d’Études d’Avallon, and photographer Ambroise Hurley produced a photo essay on the Cure River, from its source to its confluence with the Yonne. Some of these photographs stand out for their attention to scale, which adds aesthetic value to their work. Hurley thus includes elements that allow the viewer to grasp the relationships of size (a man on a cliff, a horse-drawn carriage at the bottom of a landscape, an umbrella planted in a clearing).
