701 - Andy Warhol [after], Flowers. Portfolio of 4 sheets. After 1964. Silkscreen prints. 914x914 mm each. On the reverse of each, “Andy Warhol” stamped in black ink and numbered in black ink with a dividing line drawn in black ballpoint pen. No. 196/250. The silkscreen prints, authentic in terms of technique, are designated as “after” because the catalog raisonné does not include any silkscreen prints with these details on the reverse; however, the numbering matches that of the original Marilyn portfolio (albeit in a different color), and the printed signature was frequently used by the artist in officially recognized editions, as well as on Velvet Underground vinyl. (4) Signs of wear, especially at the corners, which do not detract from the very high quality of the works. The silkscreen prints are excellently inked and have a rich, substantial quality.
