An important Neoclassical giltwood frame Softwood, carved, plaster, gilded over red bole; renewed, patinated mirror glass. Moulded frame applied with tendrils, freestanding reeds to each side, and surmounted by the bust of a lady beneath rocailles. Minor losses and reattached breakages. Height 163, width 92 cm. Attributed to Northern Italy/Piedmont, ca. 1770 - 80. Provenance From the collection of a Rhenish industrialist family. Lempertz Cologne Auction 1096 on 17 November 2017, lot 1361.
