Between John and Mary Magdalene, the collapsed Virgin Mary holds the body of the Crucified Christ on her lap. One of Christ’s forearms is missing, as is the raised hand of Mary Magdalene; the tip of Mary Magdalene’s nose has been replaced; there is a small loss to the right-hand corner of the plinth and to the toes of Christ’s foot; the face of St John may have been reworked at a later date.
