Kay Fisker Anton Michelsen Arne Bang A Copenhagen silver sailing trophy by Kay Fisker Hexagonal body with a reinforced rim. One of the panels is applied with the silhouette of a sailing boat after a drawing by Arne Bang. Two opposing panels depict a seagull above a flower. A further panel bears five facsimile signatures, including that of Evald Nielsen. Height 14 cm; weight 281 g. Marks of Anton Michelsen, designed by Kay Fisker, decorated by Arne Bang, 1929. “With Kay Fisker came innovation in the field of smaller sporting trophies. This was a response to the thin, factory-made cups. The small, solid cups, 10 cm high, designed by Kay Fisker could be adapted to different sports by varying the decoration.” (Lise Funder, Dansk Sølv 20. århundrede, Copenhagen, 1999, p. 95.) Provenance German private collection. Exhibitions A similar hexagonal piece, flaring towards the rim, was exhibited at the Leipzig exhibition Europäisches Kunstgewerbe in 1927 (Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration, vol. 60, 1927, p. 342). Literature Published in Ole Wanscher, A. Michelsen og Dansk Sølvsmedkunst 1841-1941, Copenhagen, 1941, p. 100.
