Johann Ulrich Baur A Hanau faience jug with Augsburg silver gilt mounts Hanau faience jug with paste-blue glaze, cobalt-blue underglaze decoration and green cold-painted decoration. Obliquely gadrooned body, ribbed neck, braided handle with a central ridge and twisted terminals. Unglazed base with turning marks, without a maker’s mark. The foot and rim fitted with silver gilt mounts; the domed hinged lid with twisted gadrooning, thumb-piece and small baluster finial. Height 22.5 cm. Marks of Johann Ulrich Baur, 1699 - 1703. Provenance Senger art dealership, Bamberg; German aristocratic ownership.
