Jan Jerzy Bandau I A Polish triangular dish with a warming cloche Deep triangular plate with recessed sides; the edge of the narrow rim with a pearl moulding. The raised rim with the engraved coat of arms of the Gurowski family with the collars of the Orders of the White Eagle of St. Stanislaus, St. Anne and St. Alexander Nevsky, flanked by two lions rampant. Tiered, moulded cloche with corresponding decor. The top is embossed and finely chased with acanthus; a large scroll serves as the finial. H 18 cm, the side's length 29,8 cm, total weight 1,811 g. Warsaw, marks of Jan Jerzy Bandau I, ca. 1790. This Polish coat of arms was used by several families and refers here to Władysław Gurowski (1715–1790), a Polish-Lithuanian nobleman who served as chamberlain to King Augustus III of Poland as of 1758. The service was apparently commissioned after 1781, on the occasion of Gurowski's appointment as Grand Marshal of Lithuania.
