88 - Benedetto Montagna, *Madonna Adoring the Child*. 1500–1520 [IV/4, second half of the 17th century]. Engraving. 205 x 160 mm. Bartsch, XIII, 7. Hind, V, 14. Levinson/Oberhuber/Sheehan (1973), 123. Based on a tempera on panel by Bartolomeo Montagna depicting the Virgin Adoring the Child, c. 1500 (Clark Art Institute, inv. 1955.944). Thin laid paper with a watermark of “a scroll with the letters CBC on a double border.” (1) The print has been trimmed to the framing line with narrow margins on three sides and mounted with two staples at the top within a modern cardboard mat. Some slight spots of efflorescence.
