Italian school of the first half of the 17th century, Eagle / Owl. 1600–1650. Colored engraving. 192/205 × 140/150 mm. Sheet: 277/280 × 200/205 mm. Two plates from *Varii, et diversi ucelli* (Various Birds), drawn from life and engraved on copper with the utmost care, a collection by an anonymous author or multiple authors in loose sheets. Since this is a collection of loose sheets rather than a published volume with a fixed table of contents, the exact composition in terms of the number of plates may vary slightly depending on the collection and the state of preservation of the surviving sheets. Numerous plates are held at the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica (Corsini Collection). ALSO INCLUDED: three ornithological plates, two hand-colored etchings from *Histoire Naturelle*, and one color lithograph from *Cassell’s Book of Birds* (London, 1875). (5) WORKS 1: Sheets with original margins in old decorative mounts. At the upper margin of one of the two plates, there are some fractures and small losses. Traces of yellowing and spots of efflorescence. WORKS 2: Original margins. Very slight signs of wear.
