Rectangular white gold plaque with soldered filigree wirework and fine yellow gold appliqué details. Depicting a stylised castle reflected in the sea, beneath an engraved starry sky set with small coloured gemstones (emerald, ruby, sapphire, moonstone, opal, green and pink tourmaline) and diamonds. Hand engraved: Fineness 750, maker's mark "FM". 4.4 × 3.8 cm. Weight 17.48 g. Original case. Falko Marx, Cologne, c. 1980. The fairytale-like scene depicted on this brooch evokes the tales of One Thousand and One Nights and was inspired by the artist’s experiences in Morocco.
