An 18k yellow gold ruby and lapis lazuli intaglio Renaissance Revival signet ring. Chased Renaissance style ring band with grotesque heads, their open mouths set with two pear-cut rubies. Bezel-set signet plaque of fine lapis lazuli, engraved with an intaglio depicting a beehive and five bees. Not hallmarked. Ring size 53. Weight 8.34 g. C. 1860 - 70. According to family tradition, this was the signet ring of François Kramer. Provenance From the family collection of François Kramer, Imperial French court jeweller, Cologne.
