1999 Meo Camuzet, Corton, Clos Rognet, 8 bottle Bottle conditions : 2lscl (not in bond VAT not paid) All condition and packaging abbreviations (e.g., owc, ts, lbsl, etc.) are given in their original English form. Refer to our catalog for an explanation of these abbreviations. Wine notes: "This is a very ripe and classically robust Corton that carries its 14.4% alcohol effortlessly and with no obvious warmth and one that I clearly underestimated from barrel as it's turned into a genuinely great example of the vineyard. Specifically, a notably ripe and hugely complex nose that is still entirely primary features notes of blueberry, raspberry, earth, underbrush and a trace of smoke that complement perfectly the rich, muscled and robust big-boned flavors brimming with so much dry extract that it renders the very firm tannins almost invisible and confers a velvety texture to the massively long finish. This is almost chewy at present yet for such a big wine, there is no sense of heaviness or lack of grace. A great Corton that will live for decades and is still very much on the way up."(95pts BH) Provenance: The P.V.S.R. Collection: Fine Wines from a Geneva Cellar. A discerning Geneva collector with an independent eye, P.V.S.R. has never been content simply to assemble the finest Burgundy and Bordeaux, though he holds them in abundance. His curiosity has always led him further, toward the oldest Madeiras, some of the most ancient Jura wines in existence, and the rarest California bottles of the 1960s. Now he shares two hundred ninety-two lots with us. Bordeaux sets a regal tone with the 1961 vintage, including three bottles of Ausone, six of Haut-Brion, and five of Lafite. Burgundy is the heart of the offering, with more than two hundred lots, led by Roumier with twenty-nine lots reaching back to three bottles of 1970 Bonnes-Mares, alongside Domaine Bizot, Domaine Trapet, and six magnums of 1999 Prieuré-Roch Chambertin Clos de Bèze. Champagne pours three bottles of 1961 Dom Pérignon, and the finale belongs to Madeira, with four lots of 1862 D. Bolger Malvasia and Terrantez. All bottles stored in pristine conditions at Au Bonheur du Vin, Acker’s preferred and recommended professional storage in Geneva. Refer to original catalog header sections for additional information on provenance when available.
