Zhao Zhiqian, Calligraphy Couplet in Running Script, Qing dynasty Ink on paper, a pair of hanging scrolls Signed, with two artists seals. Presented in a monumental format suited to a traditional reception hall, this imposing couplet exemplifies Zhao Zhiqians characteristically forceful, angular brushwork, fully demonstrating the powerful vigour of his mature epigraphic calligraphy. Large-scale hanging couplets by the artist are exceptionally scarce on the open market, making the present pair a rare, substantial example of his mature running-script style. Cf.
