FIRST EDITION on publication paper, from the “press department.” An enhanced copy, with a loose leaf (small paper tears on the left side margin, trace of a transverse fold), featuring the half-title page from an identical copy of *Un Singe en hiver* bearing this exceptional AUTOGRAPHED DEDICATION: “To Jacques Chardonne and Camille Belguise, thanking them for occupying such a large place in my heart, and asking them to excuse me for this belated gift, which I am sending only with reluctance, (I had hoped to have the opportunity to place it in the palm of their hands). This work has once again given me the opportunity to shut myself away with *Vivre à Madère*: it is truly my usual journal, though one would not think so upon reading this book [arrow pointing to the printed title *Un Singe en hiver*]. I think of you with admiration and affection. Antoine Blondin.” The novel *Vivre à Madère* was published by Jacques Chardonne in 1953.
