[AUTOGRAPH]. PÉGUY (Charles, 1873–1914). SIGNED AUTOGRAPH LETTER ADDRESSED TO MICHEL AUGÉ-LARIBÉ. Paris, Monday, April 2, 1906. One handwritten page on a double sheet (21 × 13.5 cm) with the printed letterhead of “Cahiers de la Quinzaine, 8 rue de la Sorbonne, ground floor, Paris, 5th arrondissement,” with the recipient’s handwritten name and address at the top: “Mr. Michel Augé-Laribé, 121 avenue de Wagram, Paris, 17th arrondissement.” Horizontal fold. INTERESTING LETTER REGARDING THE FUNDING OF THE *CAHIERS DE LA QUINZAINE*. Péguy directly requests his correspondent’s support: “I am certain, my dear Augé, that you will sign up for a share in this sponsorship; and perhaps you will be able to find a few others around you to sign up as well. ” He concludes with “Yours devotedly,” followed by his full signature, “Charles Péguy.” This brief appeal attests to Péguy’s personal commitment to securing the financial support necessary for his publishing venture. The use of a subscription scheme involving small shares, purchased by subscribers and their acquaintances, is also documented in his published correspondence. The recipient, Michel Augé-Laribé (1876–1954), was an economist specializing in agricultural issues.
