Kaldewey Edition 44. - One of seven deluxe copies, each with an additional suite of inkjet prints in red and blue (total print run of 35). - Signed by the artist in the colophon. - “This is the first of three books published ‘in appreciation of wine as a metaphor for celebrating life,’ on the occasion of Kaldewey’s sixtieth birthday in 2006. ›Like a Japanese ukiyo-e print, each book can be enjoyed individually or all three as a whole, like a triptych.‹ The images in all three volumes are based on the same watercolors but were printed in different colors. The classical layout of the Baudelaire book, with text and images on separate facing pages, recalls the French tradition of “livres de peintres.” The inkjet prints were produced in Berlin with the assistance of Heike Ulbricht.” (Von Lucius, p. 283).
